PennGrade 1 | Brad Penn Introduces Precision Fill Pouches for Gear Oil
D-A Lubricant Company has introduced a new flexible packaging format for its PennGrade 1 | Brad Penn gear oils, offering one-quart Precision Fill Pouches designed to make transmission, differential and other gear-oil service easier in tight or difficult-to-reach locations.
The new packaging replaces the traditional rigid bottle with a flexible pouch and precision-fill spout, giving users greater control when filling components where access is limited. That can be particularly useful in applications where conventional quart bottles are difficult to position or maneuver without spilling product.
The pouches are being offered across several PennGrade 1 | Brad Penn gear-oil products, including its Multi-Purpose “Classic” Gear Oil GL-4 SAE 80W-90 and Full Synthetic Limited Slip Gear Oils in SAE 75W-90 and SAE 75W-140.
The GL-4 SAE 80W-90 product is intended for manual transmissions and transaxles, including many classic and vintage domestic and import vehicles. According to the company, the formulation is suited for transmissions containing brass, bronze, copper and other soft-metal components.
The 75W-90 and 75W-140 products carry GL-5 performance and are intended for clutch-type limited-slip differentials and other demanding gear applications. The 75W-140 grade is positioned for applications involving higher payloads, shock loading and more severe operating conditions.
While the lubricant formulations themselves are familiar, the packaging change is notable because it addresses a practical service issue that technicians and do-it-yourself users regularly encounter. Gear-oil fill points are often located in cramped areas where gravity, vehicle geometry and limited hand clearance can make filling awkward. A flexible pouch allows the package to conform to the available space while the spout can be positioned directly at the fill point.
For distributors and retailers, the introduction also reflects a broader trend toward packaging that adds convenience and application value rather than simply serving as a container. In this case, the pouch becomes part of the product proposition by helping make a traditionally messy maintenance task easier to perform.
