ILMA Urges Clarity and Eased HCS 2024 Compliance
The Independent Lubricant Manufacturers Association (ILMA) is pressing the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) for clearer guidance and relief on the Hazard Communication Standard 2024 (HCS 2024).
Aligned with the seventh edition of the Globally Harmonized System (GHS), the updated standard imposes complex requirements for chemical classification, labeling, and Safety Data Sheets (SDS). ILMA warns that these changes create significant hurdles, particularly for small lubricant manufacturers with limited compliance resources.
In an August 1 coalition letter, ILMA requested phased enforcement, extended deadlines, and detailed guidance to streamline the costly transition. The association emphasizes that without enhanced clarity and support, the intricate regulations could disrupt operations industry-wide.
