Downstream Energy Group (“DEG”) announced that it served as the exclusive sell-side advisor to United Fuels Midwest, LLC in the sale of a multi-state portfolio of downstream energy assets, including thirteen locations across Minnesota and South Dakota, as well as a wholesale commercial fuels distribution business and a petroleum transport company.

The portfolio comprised five travel centers and eight convenience store locations, the majority of which operated under the Speedway brand as franchisee and licensee sites. The sale represented a comprehensive strategic exit from retail, wholesale, and logistics operations, with assets sold to multiple buyers — including Casey’s General Stores, Staples Oil Company, and one additional strategic buyer active in the Upper Midwest market.

This transaction marks a significant milestone for United Fuels, which successfully built a diverse network of retail and commercial fuel assets across the region. The divestiture provides an efficient outcome for all stakeholders, ensuring operational continuity and seamless transitions across the retail, wholesale, and transportation businesses.
