Allegheny Petroleum Purchases McNutt Oil Company With an Eye Toward Expanding Manufacturing Capabilities
Allegheny Petroleum Products, a U.S. manufacturer of specialty lubricants and fuel additives, announced that it has acquired McNutt Oil Company of Maryville, Tennessee. Terms of the privately held transaction were not disclosed.
Founded in 1941, McNutt Oil Company is a long-established lubricant and fuel distributor serving customers throughout the Knoxville, Tennessee region. Prior to the transaction, McNutt and Allegheny Petroleum maintained a long-standing strategic relationship, with McNutt distributing Allegheny Petroleum’s lubricants and additives in the local market for several decades.
Allegheny Petroleum said it will retain all McNutt employees, facilities, and current operations, allowing the business to continue serving its existing customer base without interruption. The company also plans to develop manufacturing capabilities at McNutt’s Maryville location, with production expected to be brought online in 2026.
Barbara Kudis, President of Allegheny Petroleum Products, said the acquisition supports the company’s broader expansion strategy.
“This is an important step in our national growth, creating an additional manufacturing hub that we plan to bring online next year,” Kudis said. “By acquiring McNutt, a highly capable logistics and distribution provider in the region, we will accelerate our expansion in an important market for our company.”
The acquisition adds to Allegheny Petroleum’s existing manufacturing footprint, which includes facilities in western Pennsylvania, Houston, Texas, and Evansville, Indiana. These sites are supported by a network of national and international distributors.
Kudis said the addition of local blending capabilities is expected to enhance service levels in the region.
“McNutt has been a strong partner for many years, and by adding local manufacturing, we will be able to offer a broader range of products and enhanced service to customers in eastern Tennessee,” she said. “We have operated in the state for many years and look forward to strengthening our relationships with local industry.”
