This is on Top of Another Round of Base Oil Increases
In addition to managing another additive increase, the third for 2021, it is important to consider that another round of base oil increases were also announced earlier in the week. This makes seven (arguably six if one counts Motiva’s most recent two step adjustments as one) since December 2020.
Although the amount of each increase varies by the producer and type and grade of base oil, when the most recent increases are taken together with the prior adjustments seen since December 2020, the price of the core types and grades of base oils used to blend motor oils will have moved up by well over $2.00 a gallon. On top of that, blenders have to factor in the multiple increases in additive prices. With that, it comes as no surprise that JobbersWorld has already received word about another increase in the price of finished lubricants.
