In addition to the good news reported in JobbersWorld last week that Afton Chemical lifted the force majeure it had in place since February 25, 2021, it should be noted that Lubrizol also announced it lifted its FM, effective September 1. While this was certainly good news, blenders say they were advised that this does not mean Lubrizol has unconstrained production capacity and output. Adding to this, it is their understanding that a couple of anti-wear and extreme pressure additives will remain under Force Majeure, and that inventories remain low and sales controls will be in place to help manage limited supply.
