NMMA to Highlight Advancements and Availability of Multiple Sustainable Marine Fuels at the World's Largest Boat & Yacht Show
The National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) and its industry partners will highlight the advancement and availability of multiple Sustainable Marine Fuels (SMF) on opening day of the Discover Boating Miami International Boat Show. Sustainable Marine Fuels significantly reduce CO2 emissions while maintaining the boat’s range and performance. This event will demonstrate drop‐in fuels that are expected to remain compatible with all existing recreational boats, requiring no changes to the boat fuel system or engine.
The Discover Boating Miami International Boat Show runs from February 15 through the 19th and the Sustainable Marine Fuels (SMF) session will be at the Sea Isle Marina, Venetian Marina and Yacht Club – Pier #3 on Wednesday February 15, 2023 at 1:30 – 3:00 pm.
The show provides attendees with an excellent opportunity to see and experience three different sustainable fuels that are available now. Neste will introduce their Renewable Diesel, VP will introduce their EcoGen packaged gasoline using renewable ether (ETBE) and Hyperfuels will introduce the PurFuels ® Ethanol-Free Reformulated Gasoline using Isobutanol (GEVO) and TXCeed corrosion inhibitor. Each of the fuel providers will present details about the fuels and then offer participants a change to go out on a boat using the fuel.
Hyperfuels worked with the NMMA and GEVO to create an RFG fuel that was first introduced in the Buc-ees convenience stores in Houston and other RFG areas. Now the premium 93 octane fuel will be available for bulk purchase outside of Texas including Missouri, Illinois, Wisconsin and the East Coast from Maryland to Maine. Jess Hewitt of Hyperfuels said, “We finally have a true ethanol-free gas that meets RFG standards that can be blended into RBOB downstream of the terminals or supplied in railcars as a finished gasoline.”
