Clarification – Waring Oil Company Expands after Acquisition of Martin Lubricants-Mobile
After receiving several inquiries concerning the JobbersWorld story about Waring Oil Company’s acquisition of Martin Lubricants-Mobile, Alabama facility, we felt it important to provide additional information about the transaction.
To be clear, Waring Oil did not acquire Martin Lubricants. Instead, what it did acquire is the Mobile, Alabama-based, Commercial and Industrial Fuels and Lubricants business segment of Martin Energy Services. This segment operates within portions of Alabama, Mississippi and Florida providing products (including Chevron and ExxonMobil lubricants) and services to a wide array of customers. According to public statements made by Martin Energy Services, “Many of the employees that made this business a success over the years will continue with the business for Waring Oil. These employees will be located in the Waring offices at Martin’s Blakeley Island terminal.”
Martin Energy Service says, “The sale of this segment reflects Martin Energy Services’ ongoing strategy to focus on its core businesses of providing fuels, lubricants and services to the offshore E&P, midstream and port marine trade and heavy industrial segments.”
Martin Energy Services will continue to provide quality fuels, lubricants and services to its customers and will continue to maintain a presence in the Mobile market servicing the midstream and port marine trade segments.
