Chevron Expands North American Base Oil Distribution Network

HF Sinclair will become Chevron’s exclusive Group II distributor in Canada, while Renkert Oil retains responsibility for other U.S. Group II markets, NEXBASE Group III and process oils.

Chevron Products Company is expanding its North American base oil distribution network through new arrangements with HF Sinclair Lubricants & Specialties and Renkert Oil. Effective May 1, 2027, HF Sinclair will become Chevron’s exclusive distributor of Group II base oils throughout Canada and within HF Sinclair’s existing U.S. customer territories. It will also receive nonexclusive distribution rights in selected additional regions of the United States.

Renkert Oil will continue distributing Chevron Group II base oils throughout the United States outside HF Sinclair’s exclusive territories. It will also retain responsibility for NEXBASE Group III base oils in the United States and Canada and for Paralux and Paramount process oils throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. The agreements divide territories and product responsibilities between the two distributors, giving Chevron broader regional coverage without replacing Renkert’s established role.

HF Sinclair brings an established Canadian presence, regional U.S. infrastructure, logistics capabilities and customer relationships. Renkert will continue serving its existing territories and product lines, including Chevron’s NEXBASE Group III portfolio. Chevron said the expanded network is intended to provide customers with dependable supply, local inventory, technical support and broader access to its base oil and process oil portfolio.

“Customers need more than high-quality products—they need confidence in their supply partner,” Alicia Logan, general manager of Chevron Base Oils, said in announcing the agreements. She said HF Sinclair and Renkert bring different strengths that will help Chevron provide reliable supply, local expertise and greater flexibility as markets change.

Broader Canadian Reach

The addition of HF Sinclair gives Chevron an exclusive Group II distribution channel across Canada and expands its reach within selected U.S. markets. The agreement also comes as HF Sinclair prepares to retire its base-oil refining assets in Mississauga, Ontario, during 2027, a transition JobbersWorld reported last week.

HF Sinclair said it will maintain its R&D laboratory, lubricant blending and packaging, supply-chain, logistics and commercial operations in Ontario after base oil refining ends. In a separate announcement Monday, the company said Chevron will also supply Group II base oils under a long-term commercial agreement supporting its post-Mississauga model. The companies did not disclose volumes covered by the Chevron supply or distribution arrangements.

Group III+ Planned for 2027

Chevron also said it plans to introduce Group III+ base oils in early 2027, expanding a portfolio that already includes Group II, Group II+ and Group III products. Renkert will continue distributing NEXBASE Group III in the United States and Canada under the new structure.

For Chevron, the agreements expand Canadian and U.S. market coverage while maintaining established distribution channels for Group III base oils and process oils. The result is a broader network with local supply and support, with HF Sinclair and Renkert serving different territories and product lines.
