Univar Solutions, LANXESS Expand Lubricant Additive Access in Mexico
Univar Solutions México and LANXESS have entered into a distribution agreement that will broaden Mexican customers’ access to specialty additives used in lubricants and metalworking fluids.
Under the agreement announced Sept. 10, Univar Solutions will distribute LANXESS additives throughout Mexico through its Ingredients + Specialties business. The portfolio includes detergents, corrosion inhibitors, antiwear additives, sulfur-based extreme-pressure additives, antioxidants, yellow-metal inhibitors and additive packages.
The companies said the arrangement is designed to strengthen local formulation support and improve the availability of performance chemicals for industrial and manufacturing customers. Applications span metalworking fluids, coolants, industrial lubricants, greases, automotive and transportation products, and other equipment where wear protection, cooling and reliability are critical.
Univar Solutions said its local presence, logistics capabilities, technical sales organization and formulation resources will complement LANXESS’s additive technologies. Customers will also have access to Univar’s Solution Centers, including its regional facility in Mexico City, for product development and tailored formulation work.
For LANXESS, the agreement provides an expanded route to Mexican lubricant and metalworking-fluid formulators. For customers, it adds another channel for sourcing specialty additive chemistries along with local technical and formulation support.
The agreement also comes at a time when lubricant manufacturers are paying heightened attention to regional supply capabilities and access to critical raw materials. While neither company tied the agreement to this year’s supply disruptions, expanding local distribution and formulation support gives Mexican blenders another avenue for sourcing specialty additive chemistry.
