Castrol Cooling Fluids Validated for NVIDIA AI Infrastructure

Castrol announced that two of its direct-to-chip cooling fluids, Castrol ON PG25 and PG25T, have been validated to meet NVIDIA requirements for AI factory and data center infrastructure. The validation is intended to give data center operators, equipment manufacturers and cooling-system providers greater confidence when selecting fluids for high-performance AI applications.

According to Castrol, the validation included a review of technical performance, material compatibility and the company’s business and global supply-chain resilience. The review covered factors important to liquid-cooling systems used in increasingly power-dense AI and high-performance computing environments.

Sung A. Kim, Castrol’s Data Centre Global Technology Manager, said the company evaluates thermal-management fluids under rigorous conditions before they reach the market. She added that NVIDIA’s validation confirms that PG25 and PG25T “hold up to that standard” in today’s AI infrastructure.

Castrol also said inclusion of the fluids within NVIDIA-Validated AI Factory Infrastructure gives customers added confidence in both product performance and Castrol’s ability to provide “consistent global support across markets.”

Direct-to-chip systems circulate cooling fluid through cold plates attached to high-heat components such as CPUs and GPUs. As AI and high-performance computing increase processing density and heat generation, liquid cooling is becoming increasingly important in applications where conventional air cooling may be insufficient.

The development is another example of lubricant companies expanding into thermal-management fluids as AI, cloud computing and high-density data centers create new opportunities for specialty-fluid suppliers. Castrol markets its data center and energy-storage thermal-management products under the Castrol ON brand.
